The Head of Data & Analytics Platforms will be responsible for driving and implementing the strategy and plans to grow and evolve scalable and extensible data platforms to meet the changing and fast-growing business needs as well as efficiently integrate data from a plethora of sources. The data platform is the critical foundation for the business to drive measurable outcomes for our clients.


  • Strategic:
    • Own the strategic vision and the technology roadmap for our data platform in order to meet the data needs of various stakeholders across multiple business units
    • Define and implement best practices for all data governance and data integration processes and tools
    • Define and implement an operating model that delivers optimum ways of working across the data engineering, science and analysis practices
  • Operational:
    • Deliver and execute a plan to modernise the data infrastructure and tools in order to efficiently support both operational and analytical data workloads
    • The plan should deliver a highly scalable data lake architecture for optimal data processing
    • Ensure proper data governance and data security measures are established via processes and technologies
    • Establish and facilitate optimal project governance and decision-making structures, such as Steering Committee and Working Groups, to ensure smooth, efficient and risk-managed programme delivery
    • Develop change management strategies and approaches to ensure transformational programs can be delivered effectively and business adoption is achieved
    • Safeguard the solutions against IT/Cyber security threats through appropriate design and controls; and ensure full compliance with IT Security policies and standards
    • Enable smooth business operations by ensuring high availability of the systems through appropriate design and architecture; and comply with IT availability and business continuity management processes and standards
    • Provide technical expertise and support for managing highly complex bespoke data processing needs
    • Effectively and collaboratively prioritise data related projects, balancing goals and dependencies from internal and external stakeholders, including product teams, technology, marketing, business leaders and partners
  • Management & Leadership:
    • To build and lead a skilled and talented team for providing IT services to the assigned business units in line with corporate objectives and values
    • Lead and help build and grow a team of high-performing data engineers, architects and administrators
    • Train and develop other employees, to ensure succession planning is in place
    • To be committed and contribute to the National talent development, by coaching the national developees, preparing them for a career with boundless potential. Leading to the program’s continued growth and success
  • Personal Development:
    • Take responsibility for own ongoing personal development and growth of expertise
    • Keep abreast with any technology trends, market trends and developments
    • Assist in the response to any emergency or a major operational disruption affecting the business or its subsidiaries
    • Train Qatari staff in various duties as per business requirements
  • Data Protection:
    • Ensure that any personal data obtained and processed is treated in accordance with data protection principles followed by the Group, as well as applicable Group policies and Procedures on data protection and information security
    • Consult the Group’s Data Protection Officer (DPO) office prior to making decisions on the processing, storage, retention and deletion of professional data with regards to responding to Subject Access Requests (SARs), conducting Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIAs) and identifying any personal data breach, if there is no policy or procedure that provides adequate guidance
  • Operational Safety:
    • Responsible to ensure that employees at all levels understand work health and safety requirements and expectations through provision of relevant QR Group induction, information, instruction, training and supervision
    • Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, security, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the operation to assure employee safety, security, legislative compliance and delivery of high-quality service with a responsible environmental attitude
    • Ensure that all managers and supervisors understand work health and safety requirements and expectations to the extent that they can pass on relevant information, identify training needs and provide appropriate supervision in their workplace
    • Take a direct and personal interest in reported injuries, incidents, near misses and hazards to ensure that appropriate reporting, investigation and response is being achieved
  • Environmental Competencies:
    • Contribute towards the business’ Environmental Objectives and targets and the implementation and maintenance of the Environmental Management System
    • Apply environmental knowledge and principles in your role, and incorporate this into business processes and decision making, to drive efficiencies and reduce environmental and operational risks


  • Relevant College or University qualification to min Bachelor's level
  • Minimum 10 years relevant experience
  • Very advanced knowledge and experience in data engineering, data modelling, data optimization
  • Experience with big data architectures and data modelling to efficiently process large volumes of data
  • Experience implementing Real Time, Batch and Stream Analytics
  • Experience in setting up and operating large data warehouses, SQL & NoSQL databases
  • Experience in Hadoop big data ecosystem and distributed computing
  • Experience in implementing Data Security
  • Preferred:
    • Experience in data modelling, application design, Micro Services architecture, data optimization, application development frameworks
  • Job Specific Skills:
    • Exposure to application frameworks and architectures such as Spring, Node JS, Angular, Micro Services
    • Exposure to DevOps framework
    • Exposure to Cloud technologies
    • Exposure to programming languages such as Java, Python, Scala
    • Experience in Snowflake, MS Azure SQL Warehouse, Dremio or similar
    • Exposure to data science/ analytics/ stats packages and libraries
    • Very good command of English
    • Demonstrated success in building an environment which fosters and rewards collaboration, accountability, and trust
    • Excellent communication and relationship building skills across every level of the organization
    • Experience applying Agile to data engineering
